What is a cookie?
A cookie is a piece of information stored on your computer by a website you visit. Cookies usually store your settings — settings for the website, such as your preferred language or address. Later, when you open the same website again, your internet browser sends back the cookies belonging to that site. This lets the site show information tailored to your needs.
Cookies can store a wide range of information, including personal information (such as your name or e-mail address). Even so, that information can only be stored if you allow it — websites cannot gain access to information you have not given them, and cannot reach other files on your computer. The default activity of storing and sending cookies is not visible to you. You can, however, change your internet browser settings so that you decide for yourself whether to approve or refuse requests to store cookies, delete stored cookies automatically when you close the browser, and so on.
How to disable cookies
By turning cookies off you decide whether to allow cookies to be stored on your computer. Cookie settings can be controlled and configured in your web browser. For information about cookie settings, select the web browser you use.
